The Baltimore Shuffle |
TheLou continues to make personnel moves preparing his team for next season. With the Ravens currently 0-8, reality has set in and we know that we're not going to the playoffs this season. So we are starting our offseason prep early.
The Ravens have traded their 1st rd pick and star HB Marshwn Lynch to the Vikings for Superstar HB Adrian Peterson. Both teams are awaiting approval from the league office for the deal to be finalized. AP will bring speed, power and that game-changing threat to a team that has a solid defense.
With the additions of QB Eli Manning, QB Rashad Thomas and HB Adrian Peterson, the Ravens have improved their offense tremendously. The defense is kind of old but still a formidable defense. The Ravens can use their remaining picks to draft a WR, TE and DBs to help make the transition from losers to winners next season.
The Ravens will use the remainder of the season to build towards next season. Coach Lou expects his team to go out and play hard and compete all the way. It would be nice to finish 8-8 but most importantly, TheLou wants to get his offense playing as a unit so next season there won't be any hiccups. Now is the time to work out all the bugs. Let's see what this new team can do for the remainder of the season. |

Ravens have a new Owner/GM- TheLou |
After starting the season a dismal 0-6, the Ravens have fired their coach and GM. The Ravens had a proud tradition of winning so they went in search of a proven veteran to take over the club; enter Thelou.
Thelou has a winning reputation and GM skills second to none. He has a way of rebuilding a team and turning them into Superbowl contenders wherever he goes. The Ravens are 0-6 so making the playoffs this season will be a longshot, as the team would have to win all of their remaining games, but you can bet your paycheck they will be in the playoffs next season and maybe even division champs.
One of the first moves Thelou made was benching underachieving and overrated QB Vince Young. Rumors hear that the QB probably won't be with the team next season. Thelou went out and got a veteran in QB Eli Manning and a solid backup in QB Rashad Thomas. Thomas is expected to push Eli for the starting job. Should be some great competition.
Other moves that were made are the releases of some overpaid veterans: LOLB Washington, LOLB Johnson, TE May, QB Boller and QB Smith. Thelou has a couple of more moves planned and a possible trade in the works. Things are heating up in Baltimore and the city is excited. Stay tuned for more news later.... |

Ravens' season is the end of an era |
The team Jackson organization has left the building. After the 3rd consecutive season without a playoff appearance the city of Baltimore and I have parted ways. It was a great run that saw two MEGA Bowl appearances and many many dominating defenses. But ultimately our dream job is to coach the Dallas Cowboys, so we knew this was not a match made in heaven that would last for ever.
The chance to coach this derense over the seasons has been a great thrill. I have built offenses from scratch but nothing measures up to this style of D here in Baltimore. I wish the future ownership the best of luck. A ton of respect for the AFC North. I ran this team as far as I could go.
The move to Seattle for me will be the last move I make until the door opens in big D. I wanted to get accustom to the NFL just in case the opportunity arises. |

Ravens ready to bounce back |
A very dissapointing season ended in 8-8 but started out with promise of a title run. Talks of selling the team and changing owhership ruined everything.
The Defense is back to being reliale. The heart is still the LB corps - Jackson, Tuggs, and drafted 3rd yr player Miller lead the way. The backups get in and bring it, Frazer, Barnes and Andrews. The D-line is young and talented but the leader is DE Jarrett Johnson. Rookie Devon Jackson appears to be a cornerstone but he will have to prove it. He already beat out DE Bradley Haley - a crowd favorite. The Secondary is full of talent, former pro bowler AJ Davis, A. Ross, rookie Terry Holmberg and John Bowie at the corners. Then the Safeties - Lawndry, Gaddis and Collier.
The Offense is young and ready to prove themselves. QB Harris is ready to be a captain. HB Williams and Flanagan still share the rushing load. The WR corps of Brandon, Crayton, Williams and Peterson and Heap.
It's time to get back to competing for the AFC North crown. It wont be easy as the Hoyt's Steelers are on par for a title run, Sauk's Browns are on the rise and the defending repeat MEGA Bowl champ just happens to reside in Cincy! |

Ravens prepare the Nest for the Season |
This offseason saw more GM magic as NewJack was more active than ever. Trades?!?!?! History shows this organization only trades once or twice an offeseason and the trades are low-key. Not this season! The trading began with sending the last piece of the former cornerstones of the defense as we traded legendary FS Ed Reed. Reed and young talented CB Pittman went to OAK for FS Gaddis and CB Bowie. The diamond here was getting an upgrade at the corner position because our division and conference are loaded with WR(s). Gaddis is a young talented FS who had some huge shoes to fill. The second trade sent our 4th round pick and young monster DE Ngata to the New York football Giants for CB Aaron Ross! Can you say "upgrade the secondary is a priority here?!" Now with pro-bowler AJ Davis, Bowie, Ross and drafted CB Ball we are ready to for the air show. Then the Ravens ship off WR Mark Clayton to SEA for their 1st rd pick. With that pick we selected WR Tony Peterson. Peterson has won the job opposite drafted WR Brandon.
Later in the offseaon during the draft, we were able to land our starting HB in Earl Flanagan, forementioned WR Peterson, DE Steve Ford, and LT Ron Finley. In UFA we picked up ROLB Mon Frazier and WR Patrick Crayton. Frazier looks to be the replacement for Jackson in the future. And Crayton is the second real life Dallas Cowboy on the team so he is welcomed with open arms. |
